I recently have been asked to manage an old Avaya G3 PBX with an Octel 250. I can succesfully create a new mailbox on the Octel, but when DID calls from outside the PBX are received, they are routed to the Octel general message asking for the three digit mailbox number instead of going directly to the specific mailbox greeting. I found a mailbox that was working properly with DID calls, deleted it, and reinstalled it only to discover that it's DID calls now go to the Octel general message asking for the three digit mailbox number. Any help is greatly appreciated.

What are you using for integration to the Octel? Do the users ext in the PBX have the ext number in the name field? What software level are both of them at? Are you sure you are putting in the right coverage path?

Need some more info to help on this one.

Ken,

I will have access to the equipment again on Wednesday.

I will get answers to your questions.

Also, thanks for the quick reply.

It will help if you do a screen cap of menu 1-1 1-2 and 4-1-1 and 13-7

Ken,

I found the problem using the suggestions listed in your first reply.

Solution: In the Avaya PBX station configuration, the name field had to be 15 characters or less, and the last three characters must be the 3-digit DID station number. (And, of course, the 3-digit Octel mailbox number had to match the 3-digit Avaya DID number.)

I used names with lower and upper case letters, spaces, commas, periods, and underscores (all followed by the 3-digit DID station number), and it worked.

Ken, thanks for your help. You saved me a lot of grief.

Just FYI you can use the number in the name field to go to any mailbox by putting that number in the name field. It comes in handy sometimes.

If you need anything just go to our web page.

Thanks
