Have anybody a idea how to solve this problem?

Regards,

Kings

are you sure this is a 250 ?

That is not a aria 250 boot screen

Yes it's an 250i integrated in a MD110 cabinet sold by E//.

sorry never worked on one it looks to me as if it can't find the hard drive but i am no help on this one

I have the system software on my laptop but i cannot copy it to a 3,5floppy drive because the file is to large. The size is 1.442 Mb. How can i format three 3,5inch floppy in a voicemail system so i can copy the software to it?

This is an Octel 200/300 and it seems to have lost the image. You will need a program like 'disk factory' to copy the exact image from your laptop to floppies as these are not windows or DOS files. You will then have to put the first floppy in and reboot.
It is only a 16mb CPU card so I suspect that the software will be Serenade rel. 1.0

Jonathan Schofield

Jonathan,

Thanks for the help. Where can i download 'disk factory'? Do you have it for me and is it possible to email? Is there another program which i can use to copy the file to a floppy?

The floppy in the drive has a label and there stays S 2.0.2-2, so i think it's S2 software.

Kings.

Hi Kings
This is a link to the program: and it used to work well for me but I haven't tried it in a long time. Prior to replying to this I thought I would download it again to make sure, but it does not work under XP. If you can get the files to a WIN98 / NT pc then you should be OK. If you're really desperate I might have some original Serenade 2 floppies that I could post (the old fashioned way)

Jonathan Schofield

Jonathan,

Thanks for the link. I downloaded it and format the floppy with 1,68 MB. Now i can copy the .dfi files to the three floppie's.

When i start the system with disk 1 into the drive, it still gives the same problem.

I recieved four .dfi files, named S.2.0.2-2 Disk1of3.dfi till S.2.0.2-2 Disk3of3.dfi and one with S.2.0.2-2 Models Disk1of1.dfi.

Do you know or this are the right disk's?

Kings

Jonathan,

Do you have a vcu boot image for mewhich you can email to me?

Kings

Jonathan,

I did something wrong with the program and making the floppy's.

Know i'm trying it again.

Kings

I can, but not until later as it is on my personal PC at home. Will it wait?

Jonathan Schofield

Joanthan,

I fixed it. The image is copied to the floppy's and the system is started up. Now there are some troubles with the harddisk. Here is a copy of it :

I think the harddisk is crahed. Do you have any idea's?

Kings

Not certain that it has crashed completely. While you have booted from floppy you could run some tests like @dskchk and @dsktst. It may be that there is some corruption and you may be able to run the @Loadcode command.
How many disks are there? Has any been changed or removed?

Jonathan Schofield

There is only one harddisk in D1.
When i do dskmap then D1 is system 1,id= empty.

When i do dsktst d1 then status is empty.

It seems that he didn't find anything.

What do you mean with @loadcode? i cannot run that. There are no changes!

Kings

It does look as though the disk may be... unwell. Unfortunately you cannot go to 'Maplins' and buy a disk, you have to source it from Avaya. They charge like a wounded elephant.

Loadcode: The command I think from the @ prompt is 'submit F:loadcode'. It is a while since I have done it, but it should ask for each floppy in turn and re-load the code from them. Must be worth a try as I doubt there is much damage you can do now.

Jonathan Schofield

submit f:loadcode doesn't work. Can not open file.

Do you know where i can order a new harddisk?

Kings

Did you have the 1st floppy in when you ran the command? On this system F = floppy and H = harddisk.

As for a new disk, you could try the guys I sometimes work for: Connect Communications London. They carry spares etc

Ask for Nick Nind

Connect Communications Group Limited

Let me know how it goes.

loadcode stays on the third floppy. When i do submit f:loadcode than i'll get a printout with error: unreadable disk. I think the harddisk is really crashed.

I'm calling the address you give me to ask if they have a new harddisk for me.

Kings

Hi Kings1

If you have all the necessary diskette, listed below, I will (later in the text) write the necessary commands to be executed - and in the correct order...

You need the following diskettes: For S.2.0.2-2:

-Software diskettes I/N 600-6364-014 (3 pcs.)
-Models diskette I/N 600-6364-015 (1 pcs.)
-Prompts diskettes I/N 600-6364-002 (7 pcs.)
(US english version 2G)

Insert Floppy 1 of the Software diskettes and press the boot buttom on the CPU-12/CPU16 board.
Press enter twice on your TTY termial setup to the baudrate of 9600/7/E/1.

Then you should see something like this:

Testing COMPLETED
Booting from floppy disk file XBOOT.IM
Image loaded
Loading Image from Floppy Disk
Loading file VMS1_3.CMP
Loading file VMS2_3.CMP
Loading file VMS3_3.CMP
Image loaded

From here you should be able to check the harddisk by:

@DSKMAP
Shows what is installed in the different SLOTs.
---
@DSKTST and the number the harddisk drive, e.g. B2
The status should be ACTIVE and Configured
---
Then the @DISKO command should be entered:

The current Status here should be UNKNOWN and Configured.

At the @DISKO, choose:
#4 to Restore the system.
You also need to enter the quantity of drives and languages.
Press Y for YES to go on ...
----
Then the commands are:
@SUMIT F:CREDIR
(loaded from software diskette #3)
Press Y for YES to go on ...

Then
@SUBMIT F:MFGINIT

Then
@SUBMIT F:LOADCODE
When the system tells that RECOMBINE is SUCCESSFULLY
and F:loadcode is complete, then it is time to install the
voice prompts, this way:

@FLOP
#2 for restore
#5 for Prompts
#2 for Adding a language

After installing all the 7 voice mail prompt diskettes it is time to reload the system and re-install the system again using the CONFIG diskette.

Use @SUBMIT H:CRECFG to build a new CONFIG diskette.

Hope that you can use this

Best regards doktor
