Situation: Octel 250 moved from one city to another and into a new dialplan. All old mailboxes will be removed.

Problem: The old Dialplan was 4 digits the new one is 5 digits

Question: How do I change the mailbox extension length from 4 to 5. It appears to only be available in menu 0 upon inital setup and the book says only that "This setting is difficult to change once saved"

Thanks for any assistance!

There is an option for this on the reformat menu. I think it is called mailbox length conversion. If you have moved the system and you don't need the old settings, you can also re-initialze the system. Boot with a ^DI to go to the install menu, then select, initialize. This will restore the system defaults for everything, delete all the existing mailboxes and ask for menu 0 again, you can then set the mailbox length to 5 digits. Caution though, re-initialize wipes out everything, so don't do it if you need to save any of the old settings or mailboxes.

I'm new at this so I hope this works. The other individual was correct in that there is a conversion utility in the reformat options. You can get to the reformat options by accessing menu 20, selecting the SMT menu, when you get the chicken lips > type the word reformat. The system will then produce a menu which will have your digit length conversion.

Also, if you are initializing the system, from the enter boot command, you should enter cntrl D U rather than cntrl D I. The cntrl D I has some pretty serious bugs at different releases. After you enter cntrl D U, select the install options in the pop up menu. Hope this helps. Email me @ rcole@tlcworld.com if I can be of further assistance... Later

Thanks! I think the smt debug was the key. I ended up letting a vendor do it. Didn't cost much and no headaches for me... Best option for now!
