I have an Octel 250 at release 2.0.5. While the system was booting up I got an error on the line for the SCSI Disk drive diagnostic. The information printed out was " *4D/1* *** Got Check condition while doing the check condition cmd the request 2000d to target I.D. 2 ". The next line was SCSI Disk drive diagnostic........(4D) FAILED*** . It kept rebooting and repeating until I manually went into the CF_DIAG area and told it to boot up. When it finally booted up all three disk drives were installed and running. I am assuming that this error is pointing to the message drive in slot 2, but I was wondering if anyone else had any thoughts on this? Thanks in advance for any help.

I will check and see what i can find out. Why was the system booting ? did it go down on its own ?

also do you know what the IPL status was?

I had system drive 1 that had been taken out of service due to a failure. I had a spare 2GB drive so I was doing a drive replacement offline. When that procedure was done it rebooted and I got those messages. I am assuming that the message drive is flaky. It still appears to be working, but I was thinking that with the errors I might need to replace the message drive as well.

I am not sure how to find out what the IPL status was. Does it print out on a boot?

the ipl status would show on the screen as it is booting it may just be bitching about the new drive and the s/n on it but i dont think so i am trying to look up some data on this for you

Did you have any error messages in the status log ? from what you have posted it is a drive but not sure what one yet. under where it had ..(4D) FAILED*** you should have had a drive configuration line what did it have on it ?

There was only 1 error in the status log. It was a CD error with offset 47 as 03. That is why I am assuming that the message drive is going bad. The drive configuration line had a D D D . . . T so it saw the 3 drives and the tape drive.

After it booted up I did look at the drive status information in Menu 20 and it saw all 3 drives as Installed and Running. I am thinking that I need to monitor the Status Log and replace the message drive at some point.
