We have an Octel 250 with a bad tape drive. Is it necessarry to purchase a replacement from Avaya, or will a like model work? Is there proprietary firmware on the Octel drive?
though the tape unit itself is old off the shelf unit, the board and firmware it is married to is propriatary and you would have to get an exchange from Avaya or an authorized partner
I might suggest trying a few new tapes and clean the heads,
What is the drive doing ? i have seen where it will stop working and if you disable it pull it out and then put it back in and renable it it will start working. I have also seen where it takes a reboot of the Aria to bring it back online.
The Board is propriatary but the drive itself is not. If you can find one it will work.
Is the board with Octel firmware in the drive package or in the voice server? If the board is inside the drive, I'm assuming it can be swapped with another drive mechanism?
