I have a user who wants to know who called her mailbox from the outside at a perticular time. I have looked over the CDR information is the admin guide and have been able to pull the history : cdr ma XXXX however I cannot figure out how to get the outside caller information. Any help would be appreciated!

Thanks

Is this a Serenade or an Aria system, the two are very different.

On a Serenade you can run the list trace feature and trace back to a particular time or event, and depending on how busy the system is, you can go back several days or even weeks.

OK,
From the @ prompt type L T
from there you can choose a kind of trace that you want to examine, either by time or mailbox number etc. and which activities. Try to be a little specific as if the system is busy there will be yards of data.

If you have never done this before, as a test type L T 1 (enter) and then C (continuous) and then call into the voicemail from an extension (or mobile) and watch the trace run.

thanks Jonathon, this information you have provided is very good. I can see the message number but how do I determine who the caller is?

thanks again

Depending on the software level then one of the columns should show this info (if the PBX is passing it). On very early software versions (Serenade 1.0.1 I think) this information was not included.

You can determine more about the message by typing (at the @ prompt) L HE xxxx (where xxxx is the hex no. of the message)

addendum:

Sorry, it's been a longish day....
The CLI should be in the 'aux' column.

Can you reply with a copy of the trace, the software level and the PBX type?

The Octel is at s.1.0.1-2 The PBX is a G3v6r

Righty ho

The message hex no. is 62c3 so therefore you can list the message: @L HE 62c3

As it is Serenade 1.0.1 I am guessing that the integration is DTMF in band or analog, and so the PBX is not passing any information as to the external calling party, as this would show in the Aux column. In this case I don't think there is much more that can be done.

Is this a regular occurence for your user? I know nothing about the PBX, could that do any tracing?

If you are keeping the Serenade, I would consider upgrading it to Rel.4.1.0 and even changing the integration to DPNSS (or QSIG) for superior performance. As systems go it still cannot be matched for reliability and features.

Thanks for your help. This is what I was looking for.
