Did anyone ever get this figured out.
We have tried everything, modem works fine on PBX's its just the octel units.
We can connect, but garbage and after you enter 4 or 5 charaters for password it drops you.
We have checked all possible settings and still the same, were looking for some kind of dial string for the new
modem from what I hear.

Thanks for any help.

Why are you not using the built in modem ?

Built in modem where?
External modem is on my new laptop.

Old laptop which is being refreshed has internal modem and everything works fine.

Were you referring to the octel? Nothing on it has changed, its the external modem that has issues, Even when we install it on the old laptop it does the same thing.

Thanks

Sorry I missed the fact that it was on the PC. Have you tried flow control to none ?

We have tried very thing you can think of lol.
From Google there seems there have been many many users with the same issue.
Were going to try and get our Boss (The Company) to get us a different external modem.
Thanks for the Help.

Yes it may be that the new modem has a missing protocol as they cheapen them down

Have a great Christmas !

The new external modem may not have the protocol "Bell Mode" installed. If not available, then you will not be able to connect.
Maybe try 1200 bps/7E1, but I cannot guarantee that it will work.

Thanks guys, we tried everything possible.
Even installed the external modem on the old laptop, would not work there either.
Thanks and have a good one.
