Hi All,

There seems to be a known problem of stereo not working on Octane2 machines that are using the V6 or V8 graphics boards. Has anyone else run into this problem? Also has anyone heard of any possible solutions for the problem? Ive heard that the plans for the fix range from an os patch all the way to replacement of the graphics card....
Anyone have any info on this?

Hi Nine,

I have the exact same problem too! We are running an Indigo2 and an Octane2. Stereo works fine on the old
Indigo but on the Octane2 we get unwanted effects,
here is what the user said:

OK - the problem. The main use we have for the Octane and Indigo is running
the INSIGHT II molecular graphics package from MSI (now renamed Accelrys).
The software has gone through various versions and we currently run V2000 on
the Octane. It runs fine generally, and the Octane makes short work of the
demanding calculation and graphics side, until we use the hardware stereo.
You probably know that an awful lot of molecular graphics is done with
stereo glasses, and we have used this kind of system for years on the Indigo
with no problems. Until we bought the Octane... now when we switch to
hardware stereo (either from within the package, or at the command line), we
get stereo all right, but with all sorts of flashes and distracting bursts
of light on the screen when you move the molecular models about. It renders

Have you solved this problem?? I've tried putting on Release14 and it has made it even WORSE!! Getting help
from our distributor or SGI is a nightmare... you get
none! I'd be very interested.

thanks in advance
