Hi i'm new to this forum but i'm trying if someone have a clue to help me starting to resolve the problem.

Here's the situation.

I have (read my cie) two Octane 2 with Irix 6.5.12

A year ago one of the system disk one one box failed and the cd-rom completly gone.

Now i've got a new hard-drive (unformatted)
It seems to be recognized at the startup of the system.

But i haven't a working cd-drive

How i could rebuild my entire system?

I could put the two machines on the same network.
The working system have access to internet.
I have the original cd's of the entire software library. IRIX 6.5.12
I could downlaod stuff from sgi support website as IRIX OS 6.22

Questions

1)Do i have to initialise my new drive?
2)Can i "ghost" the working system put it on the second Octane 2 and boot up? If yes, how? I've heard on some forums of a procedure with ... euh xfs tools?
3) I saw that there is a linux version that's working for Octane's 1 and 2. Someone here have tried to installed it?

Thanks to everyone!
