I have one user that I can not get the OCR function in Adobe 7.0.5 Standard to work. She opens a PDF document and clicks Document -> Recognize Text using OCR -> Start. Regardless of the options selected on the REcognize Text Box the results are the same. When she clicks OK the window disappears but she doesn't get the progress bar that I and other users get. I am opening the same document, from the same location as she is and it works perfectly for me. We went through the Edit -> Preferences and I had her match all her settings to mine and still no luck. She has this problem on all PDF documents, not just this one. I'm wondering if there is another program or something outside of an Adobe setting preventing OCR from working.

Anyone else had this problem?

Problem solved.

I was searching for info on an unrelated adobe problem and stumbled across a solution to this one.

If you have reader, delete c:\Program Files\Adobe\Acrobat 7.0\Reader\Plug_ins\Accessibility.api

If you have Standard, delete c:\Program Files\Adobe\Acrobot 7.0\Acrobat\plug_ins\Accessibility.api

There must be a specific setting in this file causing the problem because the file is present on my computer and still works. For the user that was having the problem, deleting the file was a quicker solution than tracking down the setting.
