Anyone know what the certification process is for someone that started the Oracle 8 certification and needs to finish a net8 exam and the new features for 8i? Is this path still available? I was registering for the Net8 exam and couldn't find the path mentioned on the site.
Any help on what the correct process to getting the oracle 8 certification path converted to Oracle 8i track would be appreciated.

I don't want to sound discouraging, but my understanding is that you have to complete Oracle 8 certification before the the date which Oracle sets for retiring the certification. If you don't, none of the completed exams are valid and you have to start over again on a higher release.

I'm not sure if Oracle has retired the Oracle 8 certification yet. If not, you can finish the Net8 exam and the new features for 8i to get certified in 8i. Otherwise you are in danger of having to start over.

Oracle has retired the Oracle 8 DBA certification track effective march 31, 2002. Now u can only certify fro 8i & 9i. How ever if u r certified for Oracle 8 u can upgrade it to 8i by take 1z0-020 and then if desired to 9i by taking 1z0-030. U might be able to use 1z0-001 if u have taken that for the 8 track, since it is common to all three tracks 8, 8i 9i.

You can use the Oracle 8.0 exams already cleared towards your Oracle 8i certification too. All you need to do is clear the remaining exams for Oracle 8i track, and further take up the 'Oracle 8i- New Features for Administrators' exam additionally. Effectively meaning that you will have to six instead of five exams to be certified. YOu'll then certified for Oracle 8i.

Then only exam u can a get a credit from 8 to 8i would be 1z0-001. U will have to take the remaining test on the 8i track (4 exams) and then take the 9i upgrade 1z0-030 to finish off the 9i certification or shoot for 9i direct if u have already taken the 1z0-001(before sept 1, 2002) because then u will be expempted from the Oracle hands on training requirement for the 9i DBA track. All u have to do is take the remaining 3 test (1z0-031,32 & 33)and pass and call urself a 9i DBA.
