I am having problems (perhaps related to the previous thread I asked?) regarding receiving email from outside my company.

When I boot up my PC in the morning, I don't seem to be getting any emails from outside my company (external emails), I only get internal emails.

THEN, when I reboot my PC, I all of a sudden get emails from outside my company that were dated from after I last left the office until now!

My Boss has the same problem. (This may not be related, but he says that one time, he received a dialogue box that was a Novell Login and the username was "system")

Any clues?

Hi pixiepoet -

Is your system setup for "Client/Server" connections only? If not, it sounds as though a couple of your users may have made direct connections at one time (hence the system login your one user may have seen in the past) -- and are timing out at the POA/MTA. Again, this may explain the "re-boot fix" allowing the TCP/IP connection to reestablish itself.

You can double check at the workstation(s) in question by adding the following in the properties of their GroupWise icon:

/@u-?

When they double click the icon, another login screen will popup. You will want to ensure they connect via TCP/IP on port 1677. If it's set up to connect via "System" it will show at that time, and allow you to switch their connection type.

Good Luck.
