All the fields will be filled with Kanji Chinese characters, literally.
We had another database prior to this one in Paradox and someone said and it happened in there too.
The data was exported from Paradox to dBaseIII and then imported into Access to get the old data and memo fields.
The records are fairly new records though in the Access database that are getting corrupted, and its just once in a while. They did not come from Paradox. I have to do a Compact and Repair to be able to edit the record.

Any ideas

Hi

is the corrupted record associated with the application crashing?, and/or a power failure to the PC or server

Is your application split into a FE and BE?

Hi

You do not say which version of windows and/or access you are running.

But given the symptoms, including the fact that you experinced similar problems in Paradox, I would suspect that a PC (and/or the server), is failing when a record is in the process of being updated. This could be due to a power failure, or software problem. Perhaps less likely, a user who closed down their PC by switching off the power rather than closing down correctly. Another possibility if it is a multi user system is that your record locking is not implemented correctly.

Using ACC 2003 and Small Business Server 2003.

The power went off now that I think about it. But all computers and server have UPS's and I checked they were all functioning. But I have not checked users who are using remote desktop. They may not have UPS' at home. which case we need to get them one.
