Obtaining the size of a graphic image without using GD? 1

I'm writing a PHP script on a system that does not have GD (OpenVMS). Is there any way I can get the height and width of a graphic image (PNG) by reading the file?

Try the getimagesize() function in php. GD isn't required for it.

Thanks. I've used that function before and never saw the reference that said that GD is not needed.
