OBP access from ALOM V240

When I connect to the serial port on my V240 I get access to ALOM. When I type "console" I expect to be dropped into the ok prompt but nothing happens. I try and send a break with both break -y (from ALOM) and Ctrl-Pause from winterm. It tells me a break request is sent but I get no 'ok' prompt. This was working fine yesterday but for some reason today (probably one of a million commands I've entered over the last day and half) have dorked it up.
