I have been using dreamweaver for a while, but just recently learned how to create my own objects. I am writing code for an IBM as/400 and the layout of the text is critical for processing as well as viewing and editing.

My problem comes in when I create an htm for a new object and in the code view, the text is lined up perfectly, but in the design view it gets all scrunched up. And, when inserted into the new page, it does even worse. The code on both views is not layed out like I had it before. I have tried adding "
" at the end of each line, which worked, but I do not want it to be inserted into the code, I simply need the layout the same as in the base object file.

Any suggestions?

If your talking about Hard line returns
is the only way I know of doing them.
and
are the only ways I know of doing returns in text. If your having problems with text spanning your document
is the way your going to have to go.
