Object Accelerator

I need an accelerator. Basically, you hold down the up arrow key, and an object (a label for the time being) moves across the screen, faster and faster, but when you let off the up key it slows down gradually. I had an accelerator at one point in time but it's gone now and I was seriously hoping somebody else would have one or know how to make one or something.
This is my first shot at something like this, usually I'm out making client\server, benchmark SQL data crap and now I've hit rock bottom: making a label move across a screen. go figure. Anyways, I hope somebody can help.
