OA6 cuts off text of message

OA6, as well as other mail-clients, as I've learned, abruptly cuts off text of html-formed message at around 255 characters (I'm not sure about the exact no of characters when this happens). Maybe those in ascii, too, are mangled, I'm not positive. Is this related to a lack of CR or LF in the text? And how can this be overcome?
