Nyrstar CICS 4.1 - Want to add Caller ID

We have a Nortel Norstar on 4.1 that has two (2) LS/DS trunk cards in it right now. We have 5 incoming lines from our local cable co. System is still running well, but we'd like to add Caller ID. CMS/CLASS info comes in from the Optimum, so it seems we should just be able to replace the LS/DS cards with versions that support CMS/CLASS. Is that all there is to it? Besides setting the phones to display the caller ID info, is there any programming to be done on the CICS itself? Also, how do I select which Caller ID supported cards to purchase? Here's what we have:

Tag on chassis: NNTM8455FPWR NT7B56FA-93

Software card: NNTM040E4M5F NT7B64MA CICS 4.1 S/W

LS/DS cards: 1: NNTM8455IB04 NT7B75GB-93
2: NNTM8455F0IZ NT7B75GB-93

LS/DS cards with caller ID that I've seen for sale: NT7B75
NT7B75AAAA
NT7B75AAAE
NT7B75AAAF

There are also cards that use NT5B..., but I expect that, since everything on our system starts with "NT7B..." I should stick with those.

Anywhere I can look that helps me choose which to use?

Thanks.

Jeff

They all work.

Only 6.1 software and up (yours is 4.1) will allow for multiple sets to show caller ID be you pickup the call.
If you have just one person (reception) or Auto Attendant then no worries.

Otherwise users can press F811 to see the CLID.
Any transferred calls from AA or another set will show the CLID

Hey Curlycord, pretty sure all CICS software versions allow call display on any ringing sets. I believe it's MICS that didn't allow that till 6.1.

phoneguy427 - thanks for updating the ram, it does have a memory leak.

Phew! Started doing some searching because I was thinking I'd have to find an upgrade tool kit to 6.1 and then another to 7.1 (just to be up to date). So, the question is: Can I just pull the LS/DS cards and replace them with those that have Caller ID capabilities without having to reprogram anything? And what are the differences in the card revs? Can you mix and match them if I can't get 2 NT7B75AAAC cards?

Thanks.

Jeff

FYI Vendors have upgrade tools for the techs to go onsite and do the upgrade for you, you only need to purchase the final software and an hour of labour.

Yes you can mix cards such as one DS and a CLID etc.

Stay away from the E, caused a client grief by randomly rebooting KSU.
NT5B's stick out further from the cabinet where the newer ones are flush like the DS's

Programming
-TelcoFeatures/VoiceMessageCenter
If you have voice mail from the carrier you can enter the dial string code/number to check messages including a pause followed by the password.
When you see Message For You (MSG) then press Call.

-Sets/TelcoFeatures
Program each line to allow for Caller ID only on sets that have lines Appear and Ring
Program if should show external message from carrier
Program Name or Number first
Program Call Log

Curlycord & Phoneguy427 -

Thanks for your input. Looks like I can move forward with this. If I ever decide to do an upgrade from 4.1, I'll get an installer to do it.

:)
