NW6; Can't get web-related app's to run

We recently upgraded to NW6 and everything is stable but cannot get any of the web products to run. I have NSWEB running manually (started it after server reboot) and can get the default Enterprise Web Server page to come up on port 443. However, every other link I choose from it(iManager, iPrint, Remote, etc...) gives me a blank web page. Putting url in address field gives same result no matter what port I try. I notice most are defaulting to port 2200 but nothing is happening.

Does someone have an idea of what I may be missing? or how to determine exactly which products are installed/running? I've looked at the list of nlm's in Console monitor but see no mention specifically of Web Manager.

Thanks greatly! gillis

When you installed NW6 and the web services, did you go with a single IP or multiple IPs, one for each service? Are you using the IP address to browse to the system or it's DNS name?

Try just using the IP and browse directly to the service you want to connect to.

Below info is from
Opening Novell iManager in Regular Mode
In a Web browser, enter the following in the address (URL) field:

For example:

Log in using your username, context, password, and eDirectory tree name.

You will only have access to those features you have rights to. To have full access to all Novell iManager features, you must log in as Supervisor of the tree.

Matt, thanks for responding. The work was performed by someone else. I notice when invoking NSWEB from the console, the 1st 2 NLM's, CRON & NSSNMP say [Not Multiple] whereas all else say [OK]. Does that help? Also, we have always added a secondary IP for Groupwise. However, I see nothing in the autoexec.ncf mentioning additional IP's beyond that.

How can I tell if Web Mgr. is even installed? If I use the NW6 CD and the deployment mgr., there are some components checked and others not. Is it a safe assumption that those checked are NOT installed yet, or is that a stretch?

I have used both IP and DNS name to try to bring the web stuff up. Since the only two IP's I know of are the primary and secondary (GW) ones, I've used those in the browser command. If I use I get the Enterprise Web server page, but no combination of other commands using :2200 give me anything but a "web page not found"

Sorry so wordy - hopefully something I've said may help to assess our situation.

Thanks, Jerry

What was your upgrade path? (across the wire or inplace?)
What did you upgrade from, what was the source NDS version.

There are many issues when upgrading old version of NDS to NW6 using NDS 86; ranges from NDS corruption to what your dealing with right now.

You should be able to get to Remote Manager by going to this service runs from the PORTAL.NLM. If you have the NDSIMON.NLM loaded you will also be get a link to it in Remote Manager. This is a revised order of the needed NLM's for the Remote Manager and security (this fixes most problems with the service);

LOAD NICISDI.XLM s
LOAD SASDFM.XLM
LOAD SAS.NLM
LOAD PKI.NLM
LOAD NILE.NLM
LOAD HTTPSTK.NLM /SSL /keyfile:"SSL CertificateIP"
LOAD PORTAL.NLM

The issue with the Apache/Tomcat apps (iMonitor, iPrint) can be resolved by reinstalling them. However, this may be pointless if your Certificate Authority is messed up. Get PKIDIAG.NLM to check the state of your SSL and KMO objects, then get NREPAIR.NLM to check the state of your NICI. If you find problems, use the NLM and this TID to fix them;

Once everything is fine, follow this TID:

Brent, thanks very much for your response. I tried Remote Mgr. as you suggested and it worked! I'll take some time to digest the rest of your comments and try to work through the process. Hopefully, I'll get the desired end result.

Thanks again,

Jerry Giles

Thanks Matt I'll look into the Web Training file.

Thank you Chewie for mentioning that!!! I too am having a horrible time with web services on Netware 6 and was just searching everywhere for some sort of guide. It looks like Novell finally realized what a headache it is!
Thanks!

Another update to this...

Novell released eDirectory 8.7 on Friday and it included some updated web stuff. Go to download.novell.com and search for eDirectory.

From the website:

The Novell® eDirectory™ Web Applications download provides a combined installation program for Novell iManager 1.5 and Novell eGuide 2.1.

Novell iManager 1.5 is a Web-based application for managing, maintaining, and monitoring Novell eDirectory using wired and wireless devices. iManager uses a role-based paradigm where administrators can assign specific network management roles to individual network users. iManager is based on the eDirectory Management Framework (eMFrame), which allows you to easily build modular eDirectory management services called plug-ins. eMFrame plug-ins define management roles and implement tasks associated with those roles.

Novell eGuide 2.1 provides a Web-based corporate address book and self-administration tool. eGuide allows users to get information about other users in the directory (including LDAP directories) and modify their own information. eGuide can also search multiple directories at the same time. It contains all the people, places, and things you need to know in a single location.

chewie, that link to the Netware 6 Web Services Document doesn't work anymore. Do you know where I can find it? I printed it out but I need another electronic copy.

Thanks!!!

Novell took it down. We were lucky to get it and someone must have posted it accidentally. oops. :)
