Finished all steps with Migration Wizard but at the very end of the "Finish NDS Migration" it says "Warnings noted..". The Error log has this to say:

Any thoughts? How bad is this?

Thanks

I am assuming you are attempting to move an existing NW5 Server to new Server Hardware, is that correct?

Please advise.

Yes I am. Going from Compaq Dual 300MHz to Compaq Quad Xeon 700MHz.

There are procedures that exist to help you in completing this project. Is the original NW5 Server still intact? If so, I have documentation that describes the steps involved with a Server to Server upgrade. If you would like me to forward it to you, please let me know where you want it sent to.

These procedures have been used to upgrade many Servers!

Please advise.

Yes I would be VERY interested. Please send them to Beans_40@hotmail.com.
Thank you.

Do you have NSS volumes?
1.
Do you have quotas assigned?
What version of NetWare is involved? Nw 5.0 or Nw 5.1 ?
If you have 5.1 you should upgrade all servers to SP3 (NSS5H.EXE).

In nw 5.0 also, you have to add this on the command prompt:
NSS /direcoryquotas=NSSVOLUMENAME
on the source server (to add quota there also)!

2.
Is it installed SMS on your servers? Check also if TSA is loaded (TSA500 for NW5)

Install the latest Novell Storage Management Services (SMS) available for NetWare 5 (SP4)

3.
Check also to have the latest client version

To update the request made by salserocito, if you could forward that documentation to Beans_40@hotmail.com that would be great. Thnak you

Actually, Novell has a proper way to do the server migration which I have used everytime I migrate to new server.

You should go to NWCONFIG "DS operation" "Prepare NDS for hardware upgrade".

Basically, the option allows you to backup DS to file, then you copy DS files to new server and restore DS there. That way, you can maintain all server references. Search this option on novell site.

Please note, you still need to backup and restore data.

I read through the TID (10021142) using nwconfig method but using the Migration wizard seems so much easier since basically all of the steps are similar except the wizard makes it warm and fuzzy. I have version 6 of the wizard. Can anyone tell me for sure whch way is better/more reliable.

Thanks
