NW 5.1 Install Problem

Last week I began installing NW 5.1 to a Compaq Proliant 3000 server. I did upgrade the firmware on the server's BIOS, SCSI disk drives and the SCSI tape drive. The server will have 4 disk drives using simple mirroring of 0 & 1 and 2 & 3. I installed DOS 6.22 on the first and second drives and used the same autoexec and config.sys on them. I am using the atapi_cd.sys driver for the CD. I booted to c: and then ran the install.bat from the NW CD. I used the Netware CD driver and it gave the can't load cdrom error before getting to the GUI. I then remembered that the Netware CD driver can sometimes be flaky. I reformatted the drive and started over. This time I used the DOS CD driver and I named the server, put it in its container, installed the licenses, DS etc. I then clicked on Finish and it is now hung at 0% of the file copy. I can toggle to the prompt but am unable to load things like remote or rspx. I have a cancel button in the GUI but am not sure what will happen if I click it.

Anyone seen this before? Any suggestions?

Has it already migrated DS... migration stages 1 - 5? If so, then your DS should be okay.

At this point, since the Install is not moving any further anyways, you may want to try a Reboot. When you do so, don't let SERVER.EXE launch from the AUTOEXEC.BAT.

1. Make sure that you have your DOS CDROM drivers loading.
2. Launch SERVER.EXE -NA (No AUTOEXEC.NCF)
3. When the Server gets to a Prompt, run NWCONFIG / COPY FILES OPTION. This will complete you file copy.
4. Reboot your Server and let it come up normally.

Good Luck.

Thanks for the suggestions. The server is now functioning but I am still missing some files and am in the process of getting those on there. Thanks again.
