I just installed a TNT2 PCI video card. My computer has an INTEL 810 chipset. In my display properties it shows 2 monitors. I think the games are trying to play on #2 monitor. When I try to play I get a black scren but I can hear the game. I went to NVIDIA site & they suggested downloading new chipset drivers which I did. In my control panel sytems folder I deleted default monitor, also with no effect. When I restart computer default monitor returns. How can I get video card to work?? Thanks, Smitty

Have you removed or disabled your old video drivers? Sometimes you can't remove it you just disable it in device manager. It will always be there but disabled with a red X. "A little knowledge is a dangerous thing....." [morning]

Do you have a monitor connected to your old on board video
connector? It needs to be connected to the new video card only. "A little knowledge is a dangerous thing....." [morning]

Only one monitor. Old drivers are disabled in conrol panel. When I try to play I get a message "are pc display settings correct" then a black screen & I can hear game running.

Is your resolution and refresh rate set to match the game requirements? Have you tried the video card in another PCI slot? Do you have drivers for your monitor or is it just plug&play? Your old on board video must not be disabled if it sees two monitors. Does it show a red X in device manager for the old display adapter? "A little knowledge is a dangerous thing....." [morning]

Solved 2 monitor issue, had to disable video driver on motherboard resources as well. Still have problem with games as described above. All newest drivers installed & DirectX 8.1 loaded. Stilll get error message "PC display settings correct?". I also get same message when testing direct draw in DXDIAG in fullscreen mode.

Any luck on this? I'm seeing the same problem with win2000 (intel 810 motherboard + PCI TNT2 card). Oddly, linux, WinNT and 98 work fine on that hardware (including directX 8.1 on win98), but I'm seeing that exact behavior under win2000.

I've also had the problem where installing the newest nVidia driver causes that system to hang on restarting with win2000. I've installed win2000 service pack 2 but not the win2000 compatibility patch yet, however; if that helps I'll post again.
