What could be done on the Nupoint release 14 to match more than one spoken name to a single extension (for example Bob, Robert and technical services would all lead to x 555)

Speech enabled auto attendant?

yes it is on the speech auto-attendant.. it'll generate one voice entry per mailbox and one per department from what I found so far..

mmmm.....
I thought you were able to program aliases on SAA
I will check and post back

Yes it can
here is a clip from the user guide

Users can add custom pronunciations for people’s names to each language. For example, a
user can add nicknames, such as equating "Bill" or "Will" with the name "William". Users can
also add a phonetic representation of a person’s name. For example, an English SAA system
will have a higher match rate for the name "Benoit" when the phonetic pronunciation (like
"benwah") is added to its dictionary. Custom pronunciation is managed using the Auto Attendant
menu in the Web Console

So far I saw that option as a global.. Of course not all the people named Robert share the phone that is also "technical services"... But what you posted makes it as if the users themselves can add multiple pronunciations, I'll look into that.. Thanks!
