numerous db2jccThread processes found on DB2 Unix Server

I have noticed that numerous "db2jccThread" processes were found running on our DB2/Unix Server (There was about 50 of them running). It looks like they were coming from our Coldfusion Server.

In order to setup our Db2 connection from our Coldfusion server we have setup a JDBC connection. Is there a setting somewhere that could prevent us from having so many of these processes running on the DB2 server?

Also, what is the function of this process?
