Numeric X axis in Excel

Usually the Excel X axis (columns) are named by letters and the rows are numbers.

Suddenly the letters where gone, replaced by numbers. Anyone experienced this, and how can
I change it back to letters?

I mainly work on imported ASCII files containing both text and numbers.
