I am faced with the task of generating a report on the contents of our info desktop.

There are 5 levels of folders/reports. Each report or folder has a unique id #, as well as a parentid #. The parentid is 0 for the top level folders. I wish to generate a report such that each level is grouped by its parentid, and they print in hierarchtical order. Seems I should be able to use a number variable with the parentid field to do this, but I cannot seem to get it. I am using CR7.

I want to see the results laid out the same way the data would appear on the info desktop, if all folders were expanded.

You might consider doing this within the database.

Otherwise you might use a self-join to do this, place the table in again and link it based on the hierarchy.
