Hi all,
Wondering if anybody has done this or knows if\how it can be done.
I have a report that has 3 sub-reports on it. I want to give each record that comes up in the report a number, like the first record in the report is 1 etc. til the last. The sub-reports get their info from parameter queries and the main report just combines them to display them as one report.
Would I have to use the queries to number each record?Or can it be done in the report itself?

Any help or ideas on this would be great.
Cheers,
Rob

You don't say if you are numbering the subReports or the Main report, but try this. Add an unbound texbox in the section where your records are, set the Control Source to =1, and set the Running Sum to either Over All or Over Group depending on whether one or the other works better for you. This will simple increment the unbound textbox by 1 for each record in the Report.

Cheers Paul,
The Main report doesn't hold any records as such it just combines the three sub-reports to display the records, if that is any clearer.
What I would like is that all records will be numbered, but would be possible to have the number increment over the three sub-reports?
Cheers,
Rob

You would just have to try it and see how it goes. Then let me know what happens. I don't have any subreports to try it on so can't really say what the outcome will be. Give it a try and post back with the results.

It works fine for numbering the records in the individual sub-reports using your method. I tried using it on the main report itself and it only numbered the first sub-report but didn't number the records in it or any of the other sub-reports.
I'm going to try and use a global variable and increment it for every record and see if that works.
