numbering raffle tickets

I have created with Publisher 98 a raffle ticket (which is really a purchase ticket for a fundraising car wash). I would like to put numbers on the tickets. I can manually type in a number but that is a tedious way to do this and it has the drawback of printing 6 tickets to a page with 6 having the same number. Is there a shortcut to accomplishing what I want?

Have you tried using mailmerge? I have never done it in publisher but found a similar thing very easy in Word some year ago (This was for entry permits to a show) I assume you would set up a file with the numbers in it, and then in your raffle ticket you would insert a field that the number would slot into at print time.
