If you want an addin that provides a worksheet function that does this,
download Laurent Longre's free morefunc.xll addin found here:

It is downloaded in a zip file which also contains an informative file in
'hlp' format that describes the 33 or so very useful functions included, one
of which does the number to words conversion you describe (supports various
languages and currencies).

This file might be a help:

It's in the "Accountants" section on page:
It contains two methods to convert numbers to words and two check writing
routines.

The code is open and commented.

And, finally:

A post containing a UDF by Bernie Deitrick that will take you into US budget

Thanks alot. This is exactly I wanted.

One little more question. I used microsoft code and it is working nice. But it is limited to that perticular file only. Is there any way that I can have this function availabel in each new file that I open ?

To tell you the whole story, I am making my invoices in excel. What I am doing is making a seperate file for each bill. Now this function is good for the file in which I paste the code. I need something like a word templete (.dot) file so that I open one file and save it in another. is it possible ? Or you have some batter Idea ? In this method I face a problem to remember the last invoice no. or I have to open that file and see. How can I have auto increment of invoice no ? I tried to use excel wizard to create invoice system which comes with it. But the format given is very different to what I am using.

Any ideas pls drop a line.
Thanks once again.

File-->Save as-->Template (*.xlt)

To create a new invoice from template, hit File-New and double-click the template.
