Did you know that IPOPE is da bomb?

Well o.k. some folks would like it bombed but alas here we are. I think it is o.k. but then again I have been working IPO systems since 2002 so what do I know. I wonder if a Nortel Edition forum will appear? Perhaps a B5800 edition or whatever the new Branch edition is called.

Based on some of the various questions & observations from others that I have read, it seems that the IPOPE improves on the Partner ACS in various ways, but more can be done.

Based on what I've read, the 2 biggest gripes are....the embeded voicemail doesn't have the same capacity as the Avaya Partner Messaging....and....being limited in the number of Partner phones you can carry over from a Partner ACS.

IP Office Partner Edition acronym is I-POPE.

Personally I dont get why they make the thing go to 100 sets, with no IP phones at all.

I dont know many 100 person companies that would not have a requirement for a remote worker....

Avaya says that their numbers show that the average Partner ACS install is 15-25 phones.

I dont argue those numbers, what I do argue is that they are skewed. Most of the partner systems are installed in retail with less than 10 phones, so if that is the vertical you are after, make a smaller system for them, and let us expand the amount of partner phones on teh IPOPE.

It is VERY dis-heartening that after 18 months of taking over Nortel, we can use another manufacturers phone, but we can not use our OWN phone on teh same model....that is NO Migration, unless you call hardware swapping and software swapping a migration....

I find it very interesting that Avaya decided to support the Nortel M & T phones on the IPOPE. I guess since those are ISDN sets, like the MLX sets (although 4-wire ISDN), maybe they should support those too, and make it the MUTT system! The whole idea of an IPOPE doesn't fit the shoe print...

I think Avaya should come out with an ETR-30 expansion module for the IPOPE. Then, bump the maximum supported Partner phones up to 48. They have an expansion for the Nortel phones that supports 30, why not the Partner phones?!

I think Avaya did a study of some sort to determine the average number of phones that were being supported by a typical Partner ACS installation.....and used that as a basis for determining the maximum number of Partner ETR phones that would be supported by the IPOPE.

Also.....considering that Avaya has retired 99.99% of the Partner platform (the 18D Euro II is still in production).....the company wants to sell the new 1400 series sets.
