Is there any calculation for the max (ideal) number of tables to use in a data model? Many of our form use ten or so tables, and amazingly they work well. I added one more table a few weeks ago, and that seemed to push everything over the edge. Maybe because the table added language driver was 'ascii" and the others are "dbwinus0" (even though they are supposed to be the same thing - I got warning messages?) Thanks.

JBirdieH,

I checked out the "official" limits ( but didn't see anything related to number of tables in the data model. If i recall correctly, I've seen up to 22 tables in a single data model. It was slow, but it worked.

Ten may be a bit much in practise, but I don't see any technical reason why you can't use that many. You'll probably get better performance if you simplify things somewhat.

And, yes, you should use the same language driver with linked tables. While you can link tables using different drivers together, the character conversion can cause a bit of havoc, especially if you're using characters in your data that are supported in one driver, but not the other.

Hope this helps...
