All: I have a problem at a customer site with one users' phone that takes about 15 rings before it transfers to VM. I've checked the return transfer/VMS and it's set at 4 rings. No other user on site is having this problem. I've also looked at the other phones and they're all programmed the same way. The users' set is a MLX-10D. If I'm not mistaken, there's a way to set the number of rings before going to VM on each phone in the later releases, but this is rel 4.0, and I can't seem to find it anywhere. I'd appreciate any sugeestions on what to try or check to resolve this problem. The VM system is an Octel. Thanks In Advance.

Sys Prog > Exit >Extensions>Cover Delay>Group cover, then enter the ring timer setting you want. The default is three. Keep in mind that if this setting exceeds the transfer return setting, then that phone would never go to voice mail on a transfer. The transfer return timer has to be set to one higher than the highest group cover delay.
Now the other thing that may be affecting your situation is coverage of the extension in question. If there are multiple primary, secondary, and delayed coverages for that extension, they will have to be accounted for prior to sending to voice mail. TipHelp@charter.net

Thanks for the reponse, but I don't have the options you mentioned. This system is running rel 4.0. The options I have for Extensions are: Group Page, Group Coverage, & Group Calling. And from those there's no Coverage Delay option. I've also checked the transfer return interval under VMS/AA and it's set to 4 rings. Any other suggestions?

You won't have the option to change the cover delay rings individually, so you need to find out where else the calls are ringing. Do a print->ext info for the station in question, and see if any other extensions have primary or secondary coverage for it. Calls must go through all the possible paths of coverage before going to VM.

In the Legend release 4 or lower you will find the cover delay option under Options ,and its a system wide Group coverage dealy interval ,by default its 3 rings. Also make sure that all your extension that they have a mailbox in the group coverage ie 30,and its assigned to the Group calling of the Voice mail ie 770.I hope that helps. Good Luck!
