Number of Pages in a Word Doc?

Does anyone know of a way to count the number of pages in a word document?

i assume you mean other than opening it in word ;>

just establish a com object, open the document (via the com object) and examine the doc_properties.

That sounds like what I might be looking for...can you point me further into the right direction?

It appears as though this is only available for the Windows version of PHP. I am running the site on a linux box. If this is true are there any solutions for sites on a linux machine.

People will upload .doc files to the server and I need to be able to get the number of pages in the word doc. Any ideas?

i believe it is possible to use a remote process to manipulate objects. thus if you have a windows box somewhere you could use a peocess on that box to open and retrieve the page count. never tried this tho.
