I tried to search for this topic but came up empty.

Trying to enter .5 in field. Set the field to number, long integer and changed "auto" decimal places to 2. No luck. Changed field size to double. Didn't work. So, I changed the field size to "decimal" and it finally worked. My question is this: will changing to this field type cause any problems when querying? Is the "decimal" field size just forcing the decimal place (so if I enter 2 it will show 2.0, which is fine).

I just want to enter data in the field and later find that I really messed up the table!

Thanks!

hi,

"Trying to enter .5 in field. Set the field to number, long integer and changed "auto" decimal places to 2..."

No matter how many decimal places you might want, INTEGER is, er....

INTEGER.

So entering .5 in an integer field will only store the integer part or ZERO.
