Num Lock Key turns off

We have a unix based system and also use servers outside of that system that utilize java. Whenever we go to the web server with the java and return to the unix server, the num lock key on the keyboard has been turned off. This happens to all users. Is there any way to fix this?

Can you tell us what Unix?

I know some linux boxes can use 'yum install numlockx' from root to set the numlock on
