we found bug with iPlanet directory server 5.1 and this bug is associated with null values . if you replace any ldap attribute with no values (with nothing) "ldapseach -A" give you that attribute and it should not do that. I am just wondering is anyone face such problem and how do you deal with null values? our application is breaking beacuse of this issue. I'll Appreciate if anyone help me to resolve this issue.
Thanks,
vikas

Replacing the attribute's value with null does not delete the value - in fact it will still be returned when attempting a wildcard search for the presence of that attribute.

You would most likely need to delete the attribute as opposed to filling it with a value equaling null to solve your problems.
