hi
After configuring ntp.conf on both RS6000 servers
which are going to act as NTP server and clients
i start xntpd on both mahines
but when i use ntpdate on client machine it gave
error:
NTP socket in use...exiting
and time on both machines could not be synch....
what is the reason""""
ntp.conf files are as follows::::
-----client---
server 145.17.18.1
broadcastclient yes
------server----
server 127.127.1.0
broadcastclient no

pls help

You need to stop xntpd before running the ntpdate command. Once you have set the time with ntpdate, you can then start the daemon.
