We have some small clients using Procurve switches 2610/24POE.
They have no local time servers and their router is not capable of acting as one.
I want to try and get the HP's to use NTP to sync their time.

In our office we have a cisco router and a similar thing happens.
I can sync the cisco to an external NTP and sync the HP to the cisco.
I cant however usync the hp to the external ntp
( it can ping the ntp address)

So is your timsync broadcast or unicast? Are you using a public NTP server that requires authentication of some means?

I have my switches hitting a Windows domain controller (PDC emulator role) that's getting time from an external source. My switch config looks comething like this

timesync sntp
sntp unicast
sntp server priority 1 192.168.1.10

192.168.1.10 being my domain controller and in this case a fictitious number ;-)
