I would like to use the unix ntpdc program to gather stats from my Novell 5.1sp5 system. Particularly, I would like to get the dispersion figures so that my monitoring software (nagios) can interpret them & alert on them (the server is at the far end of a WAN).

The problem is, when I run:
ntpdc -p chronos.mydomain.com

the Novell server reports an "Invalid NTP reply" & discards the packet.

Is there any way to make the ntpdc command work against Netware?

thanks

The NTP protocol in NetWare is just version one. Not a UNIX guy, but I belive that UNIX uses v2, Novell hasn't cought up yet on the NTP yet. Brent Schmidt CNE,Network + [atom]

Ah ha!
I'll see if there's not an alternative way to do what I want to. Looks like it's time to read up on the protocol differences in v1 and v2.
Thanks!!
