hello,

I have just configured ntp on one of our AIX servers. I have run ntpq -i
>peer

and its syncing up with the NTP server, but when i run a date the server is running 1 hour behind the NTP server. Can someone tell me what i've done wrong?

The strange thing is that the seconds are in sync!

cheers

nick

Try an echo $TZ on both - perhaps they're set for different daylight saving?

hello,

the NTP server is set to be GB and the AIX client is GMT0!

so if i set the timezone on the client to be GB all should be fine?

i have just done the following:-

chtz GMT0BST

and all is syncing up now

Excellent - not sure whether you have to edit /etc/environment to make the change permanent (if that's what you want). Perhaps chtz does that automatically, but worth checking.

yup chtz does the job!

i have just bounced the server and all is fine:)
