This problem is really wierd, and I have not been able to find anyone with a similar problem.

When I power up my machine, I always get the "NTOSKRNL is invalid corrupt or missing" message. So I do a Ctrl-Alt-Del...

Now, sometimes the machine will boot into Win2k without a problem, but more often, the exact same message will appear.

Sometimes I only have to do 1 x Ctrl-Alt-Del restart, most often I have to do 2, sometimes 3, and sometimes even 4!

The machine always boots eventually. Once Win2k has loaded successfully, it will restart any number of times without a problem. BUT, if I shutdown the machine, it goes through the whole process again.

I did used to have 2 versions of Win2k on the machine, but there's only the 1 now. I've tried replacing the NTOSKRNL file numerous times, and doing all the Win2k updates, but nothing helps.

The setup is that I have a 50MB FAT C: partition as the boot drive, and Win2k is installed on an NTFS D: drive.

Any ideas?

Pete

No, I havn't installed SP3 yet.

I should probably try that and see if it fixes the problem.

Thanks for reminding me!

Make sure that the drive has been defragged. I had an XP machine do exactly what you are describing. Checked the disk and it was over 50% fragged.

I am also having the same error message, but even I restar my server several times, it doesn't boot.

This happened after I upgraded my disks to dynamic disks. I reboot, and after the reboot process, it says that I need to reboot. After that, I got the message.

I have drive C: as boot, and D: as system.

Thanks.
