Hi

I have a problem, I have a HP Pavilion 7965 running XP and it started to play up the cd-rw would not work and various other things I ran spybot etc and found lots of problems but still the machine was not right so I decided to do a non destructive restore as per the manufacturers instructions.

The restore seemed to go fine and at the end it gave me a box that said you must restart your computer and only one button with restart on it.

I hit the restart button and the pc shut down and started to reboot, but it only got as far as the HP screen and then I got the message:

NTLDR is compressed
Press ctrl,alt,del to restart

When I do this I get the same problem the HP screen comes up then the above message NTLDR is compressed and the ctrl, alt, del to restart instruction.

When you do press ctrl, alt, del it searchs all the drives, cd, dvd and floppy, the instructions did not say to create a disc and no discs were supplied with the PC as they say all of the restore info is in a hidden segment of the hard drive.

I have changed the bios to the hard drive as the first boot but no joy.

I have put a windows XP disc in the cd but no joy.

If anybody can help it would be appreciated.

Thanks
