Confused: using both ntfs hard drive at home and at work, one will run certain programmes the other wont. At work I quite happily install programmes such as Sage Accounts and Payroll but when i try and install and run at home i get the following message
c:\windows\system32\autoexec.nt. the system file is not suitable for running ms-dos and microsoft windows applications. choose 'close' to terminate the application.
Any help would be appreciated, btw Im not overly technical but surely this has got to be something fairly simple?

What OS is the company computer running, and what OS are you using at home?

Open your C:\Wint\Repair folder, and try to copy two files from there, Config.NT and Autoexec.NT then paste the files you copied from the Repair folder into C:\Winnt\System32 folder to overwrite the .NT files.

Restart the computer and try to install ur payroll program again.

Hope this help.

copy the autoexec.nt file from your work machine and overwrite home machine with it? (possibly config.nt too).

PS. This isn't really a hard drive problem - its software, and would be better in the appropriate o/s system forum - XP is forum779.
