ntfs / fat / fat 32 file system explanation

first time message poster! pretty exciting!
Could someone please explain the differences, as well as the advantages and disadvantages of how a disk drive is formatted.

might be useful. Fat (or Fat16) has maximum partition size of 2GB and so is not much used on current machines (Fat32 basically replaced it).
