Ntfs Boot disk

I am running winxp pro and would like to make a simple bootdisk that will access the NTFS partition.
I've tried making a ms-dos disk from within xp but it wont see the c: drive. I have tried copying the boot.ini, NTDLR and NTDetect to a floppy and tried to boot the computer..it tries but not good enough. I know about using the winxp cdrom
