Hi folks!

I have a pc where accidentally an important file was renamed which will be required to startup the system.

How can I access the disk (ntfs-partitioned) from a bootdisk to rename the file back to the original name?

thanx for help
Harry

You cannot with native OS bootdisks.
Fortunately, there are several alternatives:

Knoppix

Use Google to find 'knoppix download'

Barts PE Disk

Ultimate Boot CD

Personally I would use the ability to run (legally) the XP version of Recovery Console, and do the repairs from that console:
But the links above will let you create a bootable CD with NTFS read and write permissions.

Best,
Bill Castner
