Do you know if file is actually missing? Or is this symptom of something else?
Some suggestions
1. Create an NT 'boot' floppy. On another NT machine, copy ntldr, ntdetect.com and a boot.ini with similar menu entries to problem machine to newly formatted floppy disk. Boot problem machine using floppy - if it boots, see if ntdetect.com is missing - and if it is, replace it with floppy version (check ntldr & boot.ini too).
2. Try NT's repair option - repair just boot sector.
3. Slave drive to another machine to check if file(s) are missing - replace there if there are any missing. If still won't boot, try reapiring boot sector again.
Some history to this problem would be useful in diagnosing it.
