Clients running application (AREL) cannot connect. Server running pervasive shows ntdbsmgr.exe in task manager taking 99% of CPU. PVSW.LOG shows ongoing System Error 116.-3.0 on one of the .DAT files (is that related??).

I don't know squat about pervasive. Problem happens sporadically. Recently upgraded server from NT to 2K. Unfortunately, also upgraded application at same time. Running pervasive 8.5. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Need more info? Just ask.

Sounds like you have a corrupted file/table. Make a backup of the file, then run the Pervasive Rebuild utility on it. Pay attention to the number of records at the start and at the end. If they match, then you're fine.
