I am @ present trying to run a backup using ntbackup. The tape drive is an exabyte mammoth located on a NTWS using win2000pro. The data is being backed up from from a Server, roughly about 20 gig. After backing up 3gig it falls over. original I assummed it was the tapes, but this occurs with new tapes aswell. If I use an alternative backup package i.e. Ultrabac, the backup runs fine.

Any suggestions gratefully received. Funstur.

Yes, Don't use NTBackup. It's not meant to do what you are trying to do. It was meant as a BASIC backup package for LOCAL machines. It can be rigged to work somewhat across a network, but again, it was not meant for that. I suggest getting Backup Exec from Veritas, it's one of the best things out there for what you are trying to do.

Good Luck,
